Dishing Up Good, Clean Fun

mp3 Scraper

I offer here, for public consumption, a tool I use in lieu of podcasting software. The program visits sites, looks for mp3s, downloads any new mp3s, and places those mp3s into directories first by site and second by date of download. The entire script is written in Python, so it should run on every computer (Mac, PC, Linux) without difficulty. I have not, however, created a graphical interface, nor any threads. It downloads one mp3 at a time from one site at a time.

In order to add a site, open “sites.txt” and enter it on a new line. The script will automatically generate a “log.txt” with a record of every mp3 it has every downloaded. You have in your hands the source code so you are free to change anything you like.

If you use, or modify, the script then I’d love to hear from you.
